Halo fabricator BMW rolls out new factory and showroom for 30th anniversary

BMW 30th anniversaryA County Durham-based Halo Approved Fabricator and Installer is marking its 30th year in business with a move to new, larger premises near Chester-le-Street.

BMW Windows was established in 1985, with founders Bent, Murphy and Wilkinson lending their initials to the company name. Its current executive team – John and Debbie Jefferson and their sons, John and Andrew – took over the running of the company in 1997-98, with John Snr. leaving his accountancy job to branch out in business alone.

He commented: “It’s not often that you come across a double glazing company celebrating its 30th year in business. We’re proud to have reached this milestone – testament to our hard work, determination and commitment to supplying systems of the highest quality.

“Our association with Halo and The VEKA UK Group in general stands us in good stead with customers, who realise that we only work with the best. Now – for the first time – being able to display our products in the comfort of a bespoke showroom, customers have the opportunity to browse our range of products first-hand – invaluable for visualising how they’ll look in their own home.”

An impressive sun room forms the entranceway to BMW’s new base – an 11,000 sq ft unit on the Stella Gill Industrial Estate, Pelton Fell. It makes for a warm welcome to their showroom and a stark contrast to the working factory environment that, formerly, had been the company’s only means of showcasing its products.

“We have invested more than £300,000 in the new showroom and factory” John continues. “It’s created the capacity we need to sustain our growth, with turnover increasing by 22% over the past three years and no signs of it slowing!”

In the same period, BMW has taken on seven new members of staff, raising their total workforce to 20. Besides its 12 manufacturers and eight sales, installation and admin staff, the company also employs three teams of fitters on contract.

Colin Torley, Sales and Marketing Director for The VEKA UK Group congratulated BMW on the recent expansion: “It’s fantastic to see Halo fabricators and installers overcoming and now flourishing in the wake of an economic downturn that held significant repercussions for the home improvement industry.

“The family atmosphere has filtered down from the directors throughout the entire BMW team. There’s a real sense of pride in the business and its future, and we’re honoured that Halo products continue to play an integral part in its story.

“Great products with great service are always a winning formula. Here’s to BMW’s next 30 successful years!”
