100 years of history ensure Siegenia deliver products that last test of time

Following recent comments in the press by major hardware manufacturers and distributors concerning the importance of quality in the industry, Siegenia-Aubi, whose German parent company celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, has a strong history in this area. As General Manager, Alastair Wheeler, points out: “When you are working with systems extruders and commercial and social housing contracts, quality accreditation is the key to ensuring success.”

Although extensive testing is already conducted in Germany, where Siegenia manufactures a broad range of hardware and offers certificates of conformity for all types of windows and doors in timber, aluminium and PVC-U, Siegenia-Aubi is now working closely with systems companies and test houses in testing hardware to achieve the relevant British Standards accreditation needed.

Gary Davies, Technical Manager at Siegenia-Aubi explains: “We test on all materials, and with our partners we are currently focused on completing cycle-testing of tilt and turn systems, to our partners specified requirements resulting in tens of thousands of cycles being completed.”

The company has been using robotic technology for over 6 years to test its folding-sliding door hardware and still remains passionate about quality. Alastair believes this commitment to quality is reflected in the low return rate of products and in the low level of service calls. “A typical example of this is our Trident casement hook lock, which has now sold over 2 million parts. Despite this product undergoing rigorous testing in Germany, we are now working with customers to achieve BBA accreditation and, to this end, we are in the process of cycle-testing at Wintech Engineering and also conducting salt-spray testing in support of their needs.”

With the imminent testing on Portal products to PAS24 increasingly becoming a factor in the marketplace, Siegenia-Aubi is committed to a test programmme of its lift and slide and folding-sliding door hardware. With 100 years of proven materials, reliability and quality behind it, the company looks set to continue reaching high standards well into the next century.
