Growing popularity of tilt & turn fittings

The growing popularity of tilt & turn fittings is reported by established hardware distributor Carl F Groupco. Commenting on the trend, Technical Manager John Mitchell attributes rising demand to design appeal, functionality and security features

Tilt and turn gearing has been an important part of Carl F Groupco’s catalogue for a number of decades. In recent years, we have expanded our range to include systems from Siegenia and Roto, which has enhanced our offer, enabling us to provide hardware for aluminium profiles. Our range is bigger than it has ever been before and our distribution capabilities mean we can turn around orders for large contracts quickly and provide hardware to suit most projects.

Roto’s NT tilt & turn solution, which was added to Carl F Groupco’s catalogue in February last year, widened product selection for customers, particularly within the commercial and specification sectors. Endorsing both the product and our services, the Sovereign Group chose to work with us to supply the adaptable tilt & turn system. As a result, the commercial fabricator of windows and doors is able to offer a solution with face fix or concealed component options for sash weights up to 100kg – heavy duty components can achieve up to 150kg. The adaptable, modular system is PAS 24 security tested and Secured by Design accredited giving total flexibility for Local Authority and New Build installations. Sovereign can’t praise Carl F Groupco highly enough, having worked with us for almost forty years, we were the natural choice of supplier when they looked to expand their tilt & turn offer.

Fuhr products, which have been distributed by Carl F Groupco for over 55 years, are also flagship lines and we are delighted to report that we are Fuhr’s largest single customer worldwide. Catering for the tilt & turn market is the Tipsafe range. The high quality tilt before turn gearing is designed for simple stock holding and is engineered for straightforward assembly. Standard components are non-handed (except euro hinges) to further reduce stock holding requirements. A silver plated finish improves the hardware’s appearance and increases the gearing’s corrosion resistance.

Another manufacturer whose products are featured in our catalogue that has a long-established reputation for high calibre R&D is Maco and the company’s Multi-Matic tilt & turn fitting system complements our offer. Featuring a sophisticated design and elegant, slim line look, corner and stay hinges are concealed to enhance the appearance of a window. A special composition of materials makes it completely robust and the tilt position benefits from basic security at the window’s most critical point with protection against levering out.

Completing Carl F Groupco’s range of tilt & turn fittings are the Titan AF and Alu systems from Siegenia. The AF concealed axxent 24+ variant provides a completely jigless solution for the majority of profiles: with sash load bearing capabilities up to 150kg, the system can easily and economically be upgraded to comply with PAS 24 for security. Titan’s AF tilt & turn range is suitable for PVC, timber and aluminium profiles with a 16mm eurogroove. Siegenia’s Alu system is designed for aluminium tilt & turn windows. Offering features that simplify fabrication and installation, and advancements that ease component selection, the Alu 5200 and Alu axxent product lines have strong appeal.

Complementing Carl F Groupco’s tilt & turn products is an extensive range of security add-ons and tilt & turn handles. Comprehensive technical support is at the backbone of our service and this has supported the growth of the range that we offer which includes the products manufactured by Fuhr, Maco, Roto and Siegenia detailed in this report. Our On Time In Full delivery philosophy is another important draw for customers. We confidently predict that expansion in this market is set to continue through 2020 and, with our extensive range and focus on a technical, flexible, responsive service we are well placed to support any hardware enquiries.”
