KAT’s expanded production facility officially opened by local MP

KAT, the North West-based manufacturer of aluminium and PVC-U doors and windows, has doubled the size of its production facility at its headquarters in Macclesfield, Cheshire, following a 63 per cent growth in sales of its aluminium products over a 12-month period from June 2015-16. Officially opened by local MP, David Rutley and Councillor Jonathan Weston, at a ‘ribbon cutting’ event at the site on 14th October, 2016, KAT’s recently acquired 12,000 ft2 factory will accommodate production of all its aluminium products, including b-ifold doors, sliding patio doors, front doors and windows. The new building has enabled KAT to add an extra production line to ensure it is future-proofed for further expansion, and will continue to fulfil its two-week ‘order to delivery’ turnaround.

Chris Powell, Commercial Director, KAT, commented: “KAT is on an incredible journey, having grown its physical presence to be a truly national UK and Ireland manufacturer and supplier, KAT is out in front with top quality products, the widest colour range from stock in the industry and 2-week delivery on all-aluminium products. We’re delighted that our local MP, David Rutley, joined us to acknowledge KAT’s success and support our ongoing development.”

David Rutley, MP for Macclesfield, said: “It is good to see a local business like KAT experience continued strong growth over many years. I would like to pay tribute to the hard work and drive of the team at KAT, which has made this expansion possible. I am delighted to be able to join the team to help celebrate their success, and hear about future plans for growth. I wish them every success in the years ahead.”

The third building to be occupied by KAT at its Macclesfield base, its 85 employees are split between the Macclesfield base and the site at Newhaven in Sussex. The manufacturer covers the UK and Ireland. Chris concluded: “The next step for KAT is acquisition.  We already have a footprint in the North West and the South West, so we are looking for a geographically strategic base for further expansion both in terms of footprint and service.” Following the official ceremony, KAT employees, their families and some local suppliers were all invited to continue celebrations with drinks and food.
