2025 has marked a landmark year for Twinseal Limited, as the leading IGU manufacturer celebrates a series of impressive milestones – including 50 years since it was founded by Allan Cowen and 20 years since it’s game-changing partnership with Edgetech, a Quanex company.
Now a third-generation family business, Twinseal continues to be led by Allan’s son Billy, and Billy’s eldest son Lee, who joined the company exactly 20 years ago.
“We have many anniversaries this year,” said Billy, Managing Director. “As well as it being 50 years since the company was started by my father, it’s 40 years since we began manufacturing sealed units and 25 years since we manufactured our own toughened glass.
“But our most significant investment came exactly 20 years ago when, alongside Edgetech and Forel, we started automated unit production using Edgetech’s Super Spacer®.
“This really did transform our ability to produce high quality sealed units in a way that also improved our efficiency and quality. Switching to Super Spacer® was one of the best decisions Twinseal ever made.”
Operations Director Lee agreed: “The quality and reliability of Edgetech’s products are impeccable, and we have been supported every step of the way. From setting up our original automated line to helping us scale our production, they’ve been invaluable. We’re now well positioned to continue growing with confidence.”
Tony Palmer, Head of Sales at Edgetech, said of the two-decade partnership: “It was great to support Twinseal’s move to Super Spacer® 20 years ago and it’s been fantastic to watch them grow into one of the most respected IGU manufacturers in the country thanks to long-term collaboration and forward-thinking investment in automation.”
Edgetech is just one example of the many strong partnerships Twinseal has built up with its suppliers over the years. Today, Twinseal is backed by a supplier network that includes Saint-Gobain, Unilam, and Bostik, relationships that Billy says are vital to the company’s ongoing success.
“The biggest factor of our success over the last 50 years has been choosing the right partners, investing in the right technology, and delivering the quality our customers expect,” explained Billy.
“Our philosophy has always been simple; work with the best, invest in quality, and stay loyal to the people and products that help you succeed. That’s why our relationship with Edgetech remains so strong – and why we see it continuing for many more years to come.”
