Tom comments: “In order to maintain continuity for the company and its team of employees, I have decided now is the time to step into the role of Chairman and transfer day to day responsibility for Dempsey Dyer into the capable hands of Peter and his management team. Peter is fully committed to the values the company strives to maintain and also to the challenge of ensuring stability for the company in a dynamic market with the constant review of existing operations in line with current best practice. I will miss the working relationship with the Dempsey Dyer team, customers and suppliers and the good natured humour that kept us all going in difficult times – especially in the recent 6 year recession.”
Peter joined the company at the age of 21 and over the past 12 years served his apprenticeship working in several of the operational areas.
Peter commented: “We are fortunate to be able to maintain stability and continuity with the transfer of the MD role from father to son. Being the beneficiary of a family business, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to my current (and future) colleagues in creating a sustainable, rewarding and fun environment where strong relationships are maintained with customers and suppliers alike. My main focus as MD is to support the team, creating opportunities for their personal growth linked to adding value to the supply chain whilst ensuring our core values.”
Established in 1977 by Peter’s uncle, Robert Dyer, Dempsey Dyer started life as a joinery company producing timber window and doors for the trade market.
The company soon moved into PVC-u fabrication, switching to its current profile supplier, Deceuninck, in 1984. Progression was then made into the commercial supply and installation market. Innovation has played a key part in the company’s 38 year history including, for example, a focus on timber window and door design based on “Durability by Design” concept and its consequent resultant contribution to “Sustainability.” Several years later came the unique “timber look” PVC-u Beaumont window, combining the traditional appearance of a timber window with the lower cost and maintenance benefits of a PVC-u window.
