Prestige contracts for Howells Patent Glazing

Howells Patent Glazing (HPG) Limited, a family run West Midlands manufacturing business are celebrating a bumper year-end with a long list of prestigious heritage projects.

Staff at the Black Country firm have over 150 years combined experience within the industry, giving the firm its in-depth expertise in both roof and vertical applications using single or double glazing or Polycarbonate Sheet as well the traditional type of bars such as the Heritage Wing Bar which is ideal for heritage building projects.

The Heritage Wing Bar has been used on several projects carried out by Howells including Windsor Royal Station, Stoneleigh Abbey and most recently Beningbrough Hall.

Amongst Howells’s list of impressive projects is Alton Towers in Staffordshire. The project involved the construction of an all new orangery roof to Alton Towers Castle, which forms part of the renowned theme park. The glazing contract took place over 4 months, with a value of £110,000, and a resolute completion date to align with the park season opening. The glazing bar was an adaptation of Howells’ bestselling HGR 1 rafter bar, adapted to suit the narrow timber rafters, which were considered to be an important part of the original design and appearance of the building. This was an exciting eye-catching project for Howells and is a fantastic representation of the bespoke, high standard of work they carry out.

All heritage building projects carried out by Howells Patent Glazing comply with the BS 5516-1:2004 code of practice for design and installation of sloping and vertical patent glazing.

Howells’s contracts have also included domestic installations of swimming pool covers and conservatories including portal frames, along with industrial/commercial buildings, airports and shopping centres. The firm’s contracts value from around £10,000 to a substantial £1,000,000.
