Smart door lock selling opportunities

Yale strengthens smart door lock selling opportunities with a comprehensive range backed up with full marketing support

Yale has developed its smart door locking range and marketing support to help fabricators and installers get to grips with the new technology and provide a superior product offering for end-users. In October of last year, Yale released its TV advert for the Conexis® L1 to raise awareness and promote the lifestyle benefits of Smart Door Locks to homeowners, helping drive consumer pull through for the innovative solution. The advert has been a huge success reaching 55 million homeowners nationwide with an even bigger reach online and across social media.

As well as promoting the benefits of smart security to UK homeowners, Yale has created a wealth of resources to help support its customers adopting the new technology. This includes not only print brochures, but also instore POS and a complete series of ‘How to’ videos. The videos demonstrate the installation process for products as well as showing short clips that detail how to set up and connect the different locks. All of which helps make the process much more streamlined and simple for users. Paul Atkinson, Sales and Commercial Director for Yale Door and Window Solutions, comments: “We want to give our customers as much support as possible with the transition into the smart home market and make selling smart products as simple as possible. “As Smart door locking is relatively new, there is currently no benchmark for smart door locks. Yale is helping change this by working alongside the British Standards Institute to create a Smart Door Locking standard. This will help regulate the industry and provide fabricators and installers with a recognised benchmark of quality. Yale’s Conexis® L1 is currently being used as one of the test pilot products to support development of the IoT Kitemark.”

What’s more, in 2017 the Smart Living suite opened its doors, providing a space for Yale’s customers to get hands-on with the devices in a ‘real life’ scenario. This provides the opportunity to familiarise themselves and ask any questions to help feel more comfortable when presenting the new products. Paul adds: “The smart security industry is thriving as we see new products and innovations enter the marketplace every day. The new showroom reflects our commitment to the Yale Smart Living range and how its success has enabled the range to grow and develop partnership opportunities with key players in the technology industry. “We recognise that some trade professionals are establishing routes to market for this new technology and need to assess how they are going to develop their business models. The Smart Living space is aiming to challenge perceived complexities by giving trade customers the opportunity to use the products for themselves and ask any questions.”

As the popularity of smart door locks increases, Yale has also extended its range to offer a variety of new finishes. The Conexis® L1, which launched last year, as well as the popular Keyless Smart Door Lock have both been updated to include brand new colour options. In addition to the chrome option, the locks are now available in satin nickel and polished brass finishes.

The new colours give homeowners more choice to select a finish that suits their style of door. The satin nickel and polished brass finishes have been designed to suit both traditional properties and modern homes alike. They offer up-to-date security that not only protects the home but look aesthetically pleasing on any compatible door. This improves the selling process as homeowners now have much more choice.
