Weru UK Network seeks trade partners

Windows Active takes a closer look at how, after signing a large-scale licensing deal with Weru Group Germany, Weru UK is embarking on an expansion programme with the creation of the ‘Weru UK Network’

Weru is Germany’s market-leading windows and doors specialist, with the highest number of windows made each day of all manufacturers in Germany, and having traded in the country for more than 170 years. The company’s ethos is to use their unrivalled experience in German engineering to manufacture high-end products that are innovative, durable and timelessly stylish. In 1986, Graham Lindsay had the opportunity to bring Weru to the North West, and Weru Blackpool was founded. Now having become Weru UK Network centre, it enters its 33rd year of trading and remains a successful, family-run business, which holds the same values as the Weru brand when it first launched in Germany in 1843. Graham still heads up the operation as Managing Director alongside his daughter, Kate Lindsay, in her role of Sales Director.

Weru UK Network – Recently, a new large-scale licensing deal signed with Weru Group Germany has seen Weru UK undertake a major business consolidation, with plans to expand further across the country. The project is being managed from their 8000ft2 Blackpool flagship showroom, following the launch of the ‘Weru UK Network’. The new network will help recruit accredited trade partners, who will be fully vetted and trained to the Weru standard, to offer a complete window and door installation package to developers, architects and homeowners. New partners in the network will be offered a unique package based on Germany’s leading window and door range.  The package is tailored to enable a tiered level of opportunity to represent a top brand, with an emphasis on offering independent business benefits without the burdens of a franchise. Whatever level of partner commitment is chosen, there will be professional support in key areas to ensure a smooth transition and steady growth.

A typical profile of a successful partner is someone already selling a volume or niche casement system within a local catchment. The core business can remain without conflict alongside Weru which brings in an additional opportunity on a totally new level. The Weru UK certified training centre, purpose-built alongside their Blackpool showroom, enables a fitter to train up to the full RAL installation accreditation standard very quickly. The range is ideally suited as a premium bolt-on for established window retailers. From multi-million-pound homes and commercial developments to cottages, Weru UK has completed over 18,000 Weru installations since the firm was established over three decades ago. To this day, the Weru products sold in the UK are still completely manufactured in Germany. The Weru ethos behind producing the finest German quality products has a similar unrivalled approach to installation and customer service. This has created, and is continuing to create, significant UK-wide demand. Weru UK has already installed numerous Weru windows countrywide as far afield as Jersey, Orkney, Cornwall and the Isle of Man, so the decision to develop a full management and support centre with partners throughout the UK is a natural progression. The company employs 14 full time staff at their Blackpool premises, and is hoping to at least double this figure by 2020.

Products in Demand – Weru UK’s most popular product range is their fibre composite Afino Tec triple-glazed window system, the RAU-FIPRO, material is lighter, yet almost twice the strength of standard PVC-U, with similar benefits to carbon fibre, making them one of the most high-tech and environmentally friendly window systems on the market. With the composition of the system itself combined with marine hardware, the corrosion risk is almost eliminated, making them ideal for very exposed and coastal locations. This, combined with a finish that looks almost identical to premium powder-coated aluminium, Afino Tec offers a perfect solution. Also specialising in panoramic, wide-span patio doors which are currently proving extremely popular in modern homes. Again, using their unique RAU-FIPRO profile which is specifically designed for Weru triple glazing. Weru’s designer entrance doors are also benefiting from an increase in demand. Combing ultra-modern systems they offer Germany’s widest range of doors, with huge options on surface inlays and overall style.
