Camden Group’s growth leads to £700,000 logistics investment
Camden’s continued growth has led to investment in their logistic department, with the £700,000 purchase of seven new Volvo lorries. The new additions to the fleet allow for greater loads to be carried as they have extra horsepower, whilst maintaining their eco-friendly credentials with twin fuel tanks, side skirts and roof deflectors. This recent commitment brings the Camden Group’s fleet up to 20 lorries, with plans to invest more over in the future.
Seamus Lavery, spokesperson at Camden said: “This is a significant expenditure for Camden, but it makes good economic sense. We expect a good return on investment through the savings we will be able to make on fuel costs, as the new lorries are fitted with a ‘long haul fuel package’. This enables the vehicles to run in far more environmentally friendly way with lower C02 emissions. The lorries are also fitted with ‘Dynafleet’ technology which enables Camden to track their vehicles precisely in order to reach better profitability by analysing the mileage on the trips,” said Seamus.
However high spec lorries are not solely about saving money, they also are good for Camden’s team of drivers. “The larger cabs are more spacious and comfortable for the drivers. We also add to the specification with arm rests, fridge freezers and LED lighting. Safety and comfort for our drivers is very important for Camden. We are well known for our great looking vehicle fleet and the Volvo FH-500 models are certainly in keeping with our image.” The new Volvo vehicles are now on the road delivering windows and doors around the UK and are also bringing back old window frames to Camden’s on-site recycling plant, ready to be made into new products. More vehicles will be added to the growing fleet as the company continues to expand, delivering a fast-efficient service to the customers.
