The new TripleStay® range has been designed in house by Mila’s product development team to carry 30% more load than a standard friction stay, accommodating up to 900mm sash rebate and 40kg in weight.
There are three versions in the range – standard, egress and easy-clean egress – which all have the crucial advantage for fabricators that they can be fitted on standard profile systems without any additional preparation being required.
This is in contrast with many other heavy duty friction stays on the market which are wider than normal and need profile to be removed on both the frame and the sash to accept the additional width of the frame track and sash arm.
The new stainless steel TripleStays® offer the same smooth, easy to use operation which characterises the whole of Mila’s extensive friction stay range, and come with a reassuring raft of quality and performance accreditations.
They have been successfully tested to PAS24: 2012 for security, BS6375-2 for strength and performance and BSEN1670: Grade 5 for exceptional corrosion resistance. They also meet the Police Preferred Specification requirements of Secured by Design.
Mila is promoting the TripleStay® range to fabricators who are adding triple glazed windows to their range, but also expects demand to come from those who are manufacturing wider sashes and need additional load capacity to achieve the minimum 450mm egress opening requirement of the Building Regs.
Managing Director Richard Gyde says: “We’ve produced this new range to give our customers a simple, reliable solution for their WER A rated triple glazed casements. However, the strength, durability and ease of fitting will probably appeal equally to those making wide, side-hung sashes who want a high quality, reliable Mila product.”
Mila’s new TripleStays® are available in 12in and 16in side hung and 14mm and 17mm stack heights to suit all major casement profile systems. Further details are available on the website at www.mila.co.uk
