Scottish Minister welcomes double Investors in People success for CMS

Leading manufacturer and installer of PVC-U, aluminium and timber hybrid, window, door and curtain walling systems CMS has been commended by a Scottish government minister for becoming one of the first firms in the UK to receive a double award from Investors in People Scotland.

Visiting the company’s Castlecary factory in North Lanarkshire, Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Fair Work, Skills and Training, welcomed its achievement in securing both the Investors in People Gold standard and Investors in Young People (IIYP) accreditation.

Employing more than 200 people at its 15-acre HQ and production site, CMS manufactures and installs doors, windows and facades, as well as being an external wall insulation (EWI) installer. It is one of only seven companies in Scotland to achieve this double Investors in People accolade.

Roseanna Cunningham said: “Since its launch last year, the Investors in Young People award has captured the imagination of employers with a strong track record of recruiting and developing younger workers.

“I am very pleased that CMS have joined the swelling ranks of organisations investing in young people, and congratulations to them on their double award. In having a strong focus on creating employment and training opportunities, the company is showing the rest of the business community how people investment and developing a young workforce play such an important role in a long term, sustainable business strategy.”

Andy Kerr, MD at CMS, added: “Both awards reflect the our focus on investing in employees to achieve exceptional results and create a culture where staff are properly equipped, recognised and rewarded. As the awards demonstrate, this spans right across CMS at all levels covering everything from apprenticeships and the quality of inductions for new starters, right through to vocational qualifications and long term career development.

“With a team of staff who care passionately about the job they do, we are in the perfect position to be able to provide the highest quality products and services to our customers. And by working hard to reach the highest levels of staff retention and a comprehensive skills development programme, our customers benefit from a consistency that most other companies in our industry would struggle to achieve.”
