First Degree Systems welcomed as member of CAB

First Degree Systems has been welcomed as a new member of the Council for Aluminium in Building (CAB), which promises to bring significant benefits to users of the Window Designer software package.

“CAB is the leading trade body for companies working with aluminium in the building sector, and we are proud to call ourselves members,” First Degree System’s sales manager Greg Beachim said.

“Our Window Designer software is a key tool for fabricators expanding into aluminium production, because it processes window and door designs much faster than other platforms, while keeping overheads to a minimum. It is right, therefore, that we are in the same room as all the major systems houses and policy makers, which can help us to continue to improve upon that software.

“We can also provide an important link between CAB and a significant section of the domestic aluminium marketplace. Window Designer is used by most of the largest window fabricators in the UK, and if they haven’t already started fabricating aluminium products, it is likely that they have plans to.”

CAB’s mission statement is to educate users and specifiers of the features and benefits of aluminium as a sustainable building material, while promoting its technical excellence and encouraging the development of an increasingly professional and trained workforce.

CAB also provides an authoritative voice by promoting members interests to government, regulations and standards agencies, sister trade associations and the media.

Window Designer can be used to process window and door designs across multiple profile types, including PVC-U, aluminium and timber. This means existing PVC-U fabricators can expand into aluminium production without having to take on new software packages. This cuts additional costs and improves efficiencies because users don’t have to be retrained, and multiple systems don’t have to run alongside each other.

Window Designer is also a configurator, not an architectural tool. This means many unnecessary processes for fabricators operating in the domestic window industry are removed, which can speed up the design processing element by up to 500%.

“As the industry’s leading deign processing software provider, we need to be front and centre within the industry, and be part of the narrative,” Greg said. “Being a member of CAB gives us that opportunity, and helps us take a proactive stance on behalf of our customers.”
