Alunet Systems launches Aluna+ in bid to revolutionise aluminium fabrication

Alunet Systems has unveiled its ambitious new product range, Aluna+, marking what it claims to be a game-changing moment for the aluminium fenestration industry. The launch, held at RAF Cosford’s Hangar 1, brought together over 200 fabricators, installers, and members of the trade press, and set the stage for a major shift in the company’s approach to product development and customer engagement.

The event showcased Alunet’s strategy to position its fabricators at the heart of its innovation journey. Rather than focusing solely on meeting regulatory standards, Alunet has prioritised ease of fabrication, profitability, and operational efficiency. Chris Armes, Technical and Design Director, described the consultative approach as critical, with early engagement from a core group of fabricators significantly accelerating product development timelines.

At the centre of the launch was the Aluna+ window system: a newly designed 75mm aluminium window available in casement, flush, and tilt-turn variations. Featuring slim sightlines as standard and a patent-pending universal sash/transom profile, the system is engineered to be, in Alunet’s words, the “easiest, quickest, most fabricator-friendly window on the market.”

Key innovations include a reduction of more than 30% in the number of parts required compared to existing systems, a move designed to ease stockholding pressures and enhance manufacturing efficiency. Modular cills and ancillary components contribute further to streamlined operations, while a focus on engineered polyamide thermal breaks delivers compliance with Building Regulations without reliance on foam or other materials associated with higher thermal expansion rates.

This attention to operational simplicity also extends to glazing. Aluna+ achieves regulatory U-value performance using standard 1.2 double-glazed units, eliminating the need for higher-cost glazing solutions. The company claims this delivers not only a reduction in costs but also 20% more light to the end user — a proposition aimed squarely at boosting the appeal of fabricators’ offerings to the final customer. Steve Stone, Director at A&B Glass, praised Alunet’s customer-focused approach, describing it as a “perfect ‘old school business model’,” citing responsive communication and a willingness to challenge convention in aluminium system design.

Chris Armes underscored that the Aluna+ system represents more than a product launch; it reflects a cultural shift at Alunet Systems. “We wanted to really change the way aluminium is designed and driven through fabricators,” he said. “We believe our product is luxury, value-driven and full of opportunity for our customers to make profit.”

Phil Rotheram, Group Commercial Director, echoed this sentiment, describing Aluna+ as a “revolution in approach” that promises significant returns for fabricators through efficiency gains in time, stockholding, and space management.

Despite the strong reception at launch, Alunet’s leadership was keen to stress that this is only the beginning of its product development journey. The company has signalled further innovation ahead, hinting at a sustained programme of investment aimed at redefining standards in aluminium fabrication.

As Alunet Systems seeks to build momentum, the success of Aluna+ will hinge not just on its technical advantages, but on how effectively it can embed its fabricator-first philosophy in an industry long accustomed to incremental, rather than transformational, change.
