The pain, anger and anguish that resinates from this cartoon that appeared in the Telegraph is hard felt by everyone in the window industry. Stare at it long enough and there is hope, the frustration leads to determination to break through that single glazed window and return with a fully charged modern replacement.
The industry is full of positive people who have fully embraced the use of digital communications during this tough period. However, we are an industry of makers, bought up feeling and touching what we make. We are involved in a people industry, social and physical interaction is in our DNA. While we acknowledge we need to improve our use of technology in many aspects of our business, we are not an industry that is comfortable being hidden behind a computer screen. We are only a few weeks in and I am missing face-to-face interaction with members of our industry. Use this time to sit down and formulate a strategy to make your business fit for the future with an eye on a ‘v-shaped construction recovery’. This desire to make things and interact with people again will drive us through this difficult period.
