Masco to help foster Evolution’s growth
Next-generation timber-alternative window and door solutions to meet today’s consumer demands are available from Evolution
Since their 2004 inception, Bedfordshire-based Evolution has quietly established itself as genuine pioneers within the ‘timber-alternative’ window and door market. Driven by a desire to design and manufacture architecturally led products, with an authentic quality and traditional, handcrafted values, Evolution’s Director Surgit Singh has consistently delivered a series of game-changing products that has elevated Evolution into one of the most desirable brands within the industry. Born out of a recognition that consumer behaviour and buying habits were changing; with a growing trend in aspirational ‘Grand Designs’ style programming, Surgit could see that windows and doors, traditionally reserved as a distress purchase, could shift to become an aspirational buy, akin to ‘prestige’ home improvement products such as bathrooms and kitchens. It’s with this vision and a firm belief in the market opportunities for quality that Surgit set about designing a premium window and door system that could successfully rival timber.
Testament to this foresight and an unrelenting commitment to innovation, quality and service have seen the business grow from strength to strength over the past 10 years. From the outset, Evolution had a clear vision to be at the forefront in delivering the most technically advanced window and door solutions in the industry; now with an exclusive Authorised Partner network of nearly 100 retailers, the business is clearly delivering on its promises. Evolution and the Masco UK Window Group – Recent weeks have seen Evolution thrust into the spotlight as news broke of the intended acquisition by the Masco UK Window Group (UKWG). Discussing the announcement and subsequent completion earlier this month, Surgit explained: “It’s a hugely exciting time for us; the support of Masco UK Window Group will help foster Evolution’s growth, accelerate our product innovation programme and support our customers. I believe that both our existing and new customers will enjoy tremendous benefits through this partnership.”
The recent news has understandably been of particular interest to Evolution’s loyal and established customer base, keen to understand if, and how the acquisition might affect them. “The feedback from our customers has been overwhelmingly positive. We pride ourselves on being a customer- centric business and we’ve reassured them that for Evolution, it’s ‘business as usual’. Neither UKWG or myself have any intention of disrupting our strategy.”
Discussing the acquisition, Wayne Devine, Masco UK Window Group CEO added: “Evolution has established an esteemed reputation, both within our industry and as a consumer-facing, premium brand – we have absolutely no intention of diluting that value! As part of UKWG, all of the branding and business identity that has become synonymous with Evolution and which has developed significant equity in the marketplace will be maintained, as will the exclusive Authorised Partner programme.” Now operating as an independent division within the UKWG, Evolution will continue to be led by Surgit and his team, with a passion for driving innovation and a recognition that it is a key element in sustaining growth and staying one step ahead of the competition, the focus will continue to be on launching game-changing products and, as it always has been, in supporting their customers.
Setting New Standards and Driving Innovation – As the market for timber-alternative windows and doors continues to flourish, Evolution has consistently raised the bar to meet consumer demand and surpass customer expectation. Last year saw the launch of ‘Storm 2’, their latest generation Stormproof window, featuring authentic, mechanically jointed frames and Evolution’s unique weather bar, where traditional handcrafted values and modern materials meet to deliver the most advanced window solution in the industry today.
With their keen insight into consumer trends and in recognising that aesthetics and energy efficiency would be two of the key drivers in purchasing decisions, meant that when Evolution were designing Storm 2, these elements were critical. The finished product delivers on both fronts, stunning timber styling, with an A+13 energy performance as standard and is available in a choice of popular standard colours, plus over 200 RAL options. In addition to Storm 2, Evolution recently launched an innovative flush-fitting casement window; meticulously designed and handcrafted to deliver traditional aesthetics, sleek sightlines and exquisite timber detailing. With the combination of two complementary window systems at their disposal, Evolution customers are equipped with a comprehensive product portfolio, enabling them to capitalise on the commercial opportunities that the high-end timber-alternative market represents.
“Our job is to develop, innovate and constantly push the boundaries to deliver truly industry-leading products and service. We have an unrelenting focus on the needs of our customers, from product specification through to the promotion of our Authorised Partners,” said Surgit. Expanding further, Duncan Girling, Evolution’s Sales Director explained: “We understand what it takes to drive a business forward and to support our customers to realise their business ambitions. Recent initiatives such as our TV advertising and newly launched prestigious retail brochure are all designed to enhance the Evolution brand, and in turn deliver more opportunities for our customers.” Today, with the added support from the Masco UK Window Group, Evolution is exceptionally well placed to accelerate it’s innovation pipeline, continue to deliver advanced window and door solutions that meet the demands of today’s discerning homeowner, and crucially, to support their Authorised Partners to further business success.
