People’s coping mechanisms
People’s opinions and business responses to coronavirus give an interesting insight into people’s coping mechanisms. I have researched this extensively and come to the conclusion the majority of our industry is pragmatic and resilient. From this research I can offer an optimistic scenario from market evidence. Installers & retailers are busily completing installations, factories are fulfilling orders in full. Installers are taking precautions, such as temperature testing fitters, ensuring onsite hygiene with sanitiser & face masks/gloves to ease customers fears. They are then using the next period to up their selling activity and engage with more potential customers, informing them of new products etc. This is a strategy Velux is undertaking, having just increased its ad campaign on TV focusing on light & space. Enquiries are still relatively good considering. When the coronavirus situation eases (and it will, look at the data at (https://lnkd.in/dtsAwif) this increased selling activity will result in a sharp increase in orders. For manufacturers this period is key. Installers & retailers will want products in as short a lead time as possible. They will turn to suppliers that have kept visible and active in the market. They will have plenty of choice.
