Winmac celebrates 20 year milestone
Winmac has been serving the industry for 20 years with premium machinery designed specifically for UK fabricators
2020 represents a major milestone for one of the UK’s most highly respected suppliers of machinery to window and door manufacturers. Winmac has proudly been supplying premium machinery to scores of window and door fabricators for two decades. Managing Director David Stone has been at the helm since the company’s formation in 1999 and is extremely proud of reaching the 20 year landmark: “Since day one we have placed the customer at the forefront of all our activity. Our portfolio of machines have been selected and designed to maximise efficiencies in the manufacturing of windows and doors. The support and technical services we offer have been tailored to ensure installation of machinery and subsequent support activities are carried out with the customers requirements aways the main focus.”
Winmac has developed an impressive pedigree in the industry which has been important to guaranteeing it longevity in the marketplace. Much of the company’s early success can be attributed to the groundbreaking EKA 379 corner transom cleaner, which David believes was the ‘making of Winmac’. Launched in the early 2000s the distinctive blue and grey coloured machine would revolutionise PVC-U frame cleaning, as David remembers: “The EKA 379 was our flagship offering to the market at the time. We started off with 30 orders to Rotox which soon increased to 50 the year after. In total we must have supplied over 250 of these machines. What made it so special and unique was its ability to clean corners and transoms. We had developed it exclusively with Rotox and were able to patent the machine – this really gave us a massive competitive advantage and soon the EKA 379 was acknowledged as the best machine available.”
The early success of the EKA 379 was followed by a golden period of supplying new machines and servicing ones that were under 5 years old. The industry has gone through much change since then, however Winmac has stayed ahead of the game and has remained the machinery supplier of choice for a host of the industry’s leading fabricators. As the company enters its 20th year it boasts a very strong portfolio of machines that not just caters for manufacturers of PVC-U windows and doors, but also include the Pertici and Schirmer range of machines for aluminium production. Sales Director Kevin Noray believes it is an important addition to Winmac’s offering: “We have a fantastic reputation in the PVC-U arena, however we realised that more and more fabricators were branching out into aluminium. Many of these fabricators were our customers and said they really wanted to deal with us. At the beginning of 2019 we began supplying the well respected range of aluminium machines from Pertici. In addition, we have been working closely with our long standing partner Schirmer who over the last 4 years has been developing a range of aluminium CNC machining centres that match the superior nature of their PVC-U cutting and sawing centres. Soon after introducing this machine, the Alu-Baz variant, we had sold two for installation in the first half of 2020.”
The business has constantly evolved and David is extremely optimistic about the future, and he has never lost sight of why and how the company is where it is today: “Customers are central to everything we do. We have an extremely talented and experienced team of engineers who work tirelessly to satisfy our customers needs. Fabricators expect to receive good service from us. We have set the benchmark in terms of machine quality, flexibility and service, and now this is what everyone expects from Winmac. Spending extra time with clients when carrying out an installation is of utmost importance. Whenever there is an issue, big or small, we will act straight away to ensure it is solved. This ethos has remained with us since day one and it is something we are very proud of.”
