GGF London members hit new heights
London’s newest best known glass artifact recently played host to Members of the GGF London Region and Federation staff. The now popular colloquium ‘a trip up the Shard’ was organised by Regional Secretary Peter Stuttard and Chairman Sam Grant, and was enjoyed by existing and past GGF Members.
The 306 metre building has approximately 11,000 pieces of glass on the external facade and dominates other iconic structures in the London skyline such as the Gherkin and the London Eye.
The London Regional Members were lucky enough to have a presentation about the building’s design by its project director from architects Renzo Piano, during a previous regional meeting.
London regional meetings are always well attended, and this is due in part to the imaginative ideas by the current (and past) Members, led by enthusiastic Chairmen who help plan exciting social events to run alongside the quarterly regional meetings.
Member companies in attendance included, Express Glazing Contractors, GG Glass and Glazing, Allglass Facades, Mann McGowan, First Folding and Sliding Doors and Ritec.
Kevin Hulin of Mann McGowan commented “”Being at the top of an iconic glass building in the company of the great and good from the glazing industry, makes you realise just how good this industry is.”
Paul Rogers of Express Glazing Contractors added, “’Great view of a great city and it was good to network with other GGF members on the top of the town.”
